How do I obtain my study manual?
Your study manual will be shipped out via USPS Priority Mail withing 1-2 business days of registration.
How do I obtain the training videos?
Links to training videos along with the password will be emailed to you 1-2 business days of registration.
How many hours should I study?
Everyone learns differently; some students need more time, others less.
Generally, a L&H course is a 2-day training (8am-5pm), followed by 1 day of taking practice & final exams to test ones knowledge. Life only/Health only training takes just 1 day plus 1/2 of another for practice & final exams.
The CO Division of Ins. recommends 50 hrs of study time for Life only and Health only students, and 90 hrs for L&H students.
How do I obtain my course credits?
CO DOI requires pre-licensing credits as part of the licensing process. Your study manual package will include forms and a pre-licensing course exam that must be taken on a "closed-book basis" in front of a proctor (friend or a coworker is allowed to proctor). Once finished, students email their paperwork for grading and course certificate. 70% is the minimum passing score.
How long are my course credits valid for?
One year from the date of course completion. This means you must pass the state exam and apply for your license before the credits expiration date.

When should I register for my state exam?
As soon as you register for the course. This way you have to start studying and be done on time. It helps you stay disciplined. In-person testing space is limited and Pearson VUE books up quickly. Online exams are available almost immediately.
When should I schedule my state exam for?
We recommend testing within 4 days after completing the course while the material is “fresh in your head”. The longer you wait, the more you start forgetting.

How much does the state exam cost?
Life Producer: $41 for in-person, $31 for online
Accident & Health Producer: $41 for in-person, $31 for online
Life & Health: Register for both exams (CO does not offer a combination L&H exam). If you schedule your in-person exams for the same day, you’ll only need to pay one exam fee ($41 total). There is no two-for-one discount wen testing online.

When will I know my state exam scores?
In-person exams: Immediately. As soon as you return to the front desk of the testing center, your test results will be handed to you.
Online exams: The results will be emailed to you within an hour.
If you pass, your score is PASS. If you fail (score less than 70%), you will receive your actual score.

If English is my second language, can I request more time on the state exam?
Candidates for whom English is a second language may request additional time for the examination by sending the English as a Second Language (ESL) Request Form (found in the back of this handook) to Pearson VUE. Candidates should include with this form a letter from his/her English Instructor or sponsoring company (on official letterhead if from a company) stating that English is not a primary language for the candidate. Candidate should not attempt to make a reservation until after they have been notified by Pearson VUE that their request for additional time has been approved. The approval of additional time will be for the length of the authorization. Candidates who have additional questions about ESL examinations should contact the Special Examination Coordinator at (800) 466-0450.

How do I apply for my license?
After successful passing of the state exam, detailed instructions will be provided on your exam results sheets. You will be asked to fill out an electronic application form on www.sircon.com and pay the necessary fees.
How much does the license cost?
$47 per line of authority (license)
Do I have to be appointed by a company to become licensed?
No, you may obtain your license with or without an affiliation to an insurance company. You will need to be appointed by at least one company (have a contract with the company) when you are ready to use your license.
How old must one be to become a licensed producer in Colorado?
At least 18 years old.
When will I need to renew my license?
Depending on your license's issue date and the month of your birth date, your first renewal date will be set anywhere from 13 to 24 months from the date of issue. After that you'll be renewing your license every two years (fees and continuing education requirements will apply).
